YouTube Kids

Video app for children

YouTube Kids gives children a separate place to watch videos selected for younger viewers. It suits families who want kids to explore cartoons, music, learning clips and other entertainment without using the standard YouTube interface. The app is published by Google LLC and is listed in the Entertainment category.

Parental controls

Parents can choose an age-based viewing setting, limit the available content, block individual videos or channels, and flag material that should not appear. A built-in timer can also end a viewing session after a set period, which is useful when screen time needs a clear stopping point.

The app supports both independent browsing and closer parent supervision. Families can allow a broader selection for general discovery or approve specific videos, channels and collections when tighter control is preferred.

Simple browsing for younger users

The layout is built around large buttons, clear categories and visual navigation rather than dense menus. That makes it easier for children who are still developing reading skills to find familiar content and return to videos they have watched before. The available experience can be adjusted for preschool-age children, younger users and older children.
